I think there are a few of us in southern California so I thought "Hey... if someone needs a new friend, they can take a look at these!"

There are three pictures, two of ratties, one of a chinchilla (for those who might be looking).

This is Templeton. She's three months old. They decided to spay her, but she's sweet and super curious about everything. She wants to come out and look around, but not too interested in being held. She's alone, so she'd need a friend.

This is Jeremy and Sammy. Jeremy is the white. Sammy is really shy and gave me warning bites. Neither like to be held, but both are very curious, so there's definitely potential with these two. Their cage would really only comfortably fit one rat, but there are two in here. Not terrible, but could be better.

And last but not least is Handbag the chinchilla. I'm sure you could change his name. He wasn't interested in coming out to say hi, but his bio said he doesn't mind being held and doesn't mind children.

And, of course, there are plenty of rabbits. I don't have pictures, but apparently there are a bunch that came in from a lady that was a hoarder.

If you can't get any of them, enjoy the pictures. :) I volunteer at the San Diego SPCA and spend a lot of time getting to know these animals. I can try to answer any questions you have, but my knowledge is pretty basic.

Thanks for looking!

I didn't see the fee on there, but it's usually between $10 and $25. (Sometimes more because of the spaying or neutering or whatever they needed when they came in.) She wasn't abused or anything, just relinquished because the owner was moving to a place they couldn't have her.

The Humane Society's phone number is (619) 299 -7012. She's down on the Gaines Campus near Friar's road by the 8.

***UPDATE***

Today I went back to the SPCA and wandered around for over an hour with little Templeton. She is the sweetest, most curious rat! She pretty much just sat in my apron with her head sticking out sniffing and sniffing. If someone came up to say hi, sometimes she'd crawl on them, sometimes she'd just sniff, but either way, she was really interested in who was there. I really wish I could bring her home, but I think my two are enough of a handful as it is.

I asked about the adoption fee since it's not posted. Usually it's $5 for rats. I don't think she has her own cage, but they might have one in back I don't know about.

I would have walked around with the boys, but they need a quiet environment to explore and become comfortable with before they'll be comfortable being handled much, I think.

Templeton would be a wonderful addition to anyone's rattie family. I like to think she's already changed the heart of people who claim to be afraid of rats. Just look at her gorgeous, adorable face!!! Her paperwork says she's not good with kids, but she was more curious about them than adults, it seemed. I think it's just that loud noises still freak her out and, well, kids make loud noises. She gave me kisses and even tried to clean me.

I'm totally in love with her! It'd be great if someone on here adopted her 'cause then I'd get to get updates! You'll love her, too.

Hurrah! Jennyg adopted Templeton today! I hope she brings you as much joy (if not more than!) as she brought me in the few hours when I spent time with her.

Today we had two more rats come onto the adoption floor. Pinky and the Brain! Pinky is a hairless and brain is a white. Both have dumbo ears. Brain has really small eyes. It's surprising, but he does see. If anyone is interested, I'll take pictures. (They were hiding today, so I decided to leave them alone for the moment.)

Yeppers. Templeton came home with me yesterday. She's just too adorable to say no too. She's very cuddly. I let her meet Shia and Nishaou late last night. There was a lot of excitement and some wrestling and grooming while they figured out who's the boss but as I write this Templeton and Nishaou are curled up asleep together all lovey dovey and peaceful and I think Shia has accepted her into the family too. I'll post pics of all 3 later today when they're awake.
